Contemplative

My contemplative grandson!

“The ends of the Earth stand in awe
at the sight of your wonders.
The lands of sunrise and sunset
you fill with your joy. “

Psalm 65

The Way of the Cross

It’s Holy Week. We know what’s coming……our salvation!

“As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road; and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen. They proclaimed: “Blessed is the king who comes  in the name of the Lord.Peace in heaven  and glory in the highest.”

Luke 19

Spring?

Well, not quite. But….there were swans at the local pond yesterday!

Just people

Went to the Valley View Mall in LaCrosse, Wisconsin today just to see what I could see.
Found a few interesting people and sights:

Fear

The life of Fear

The world has succumbed to a news media bent on instilling fear in everyone.

Resist this. Life is beautiful!

From the scripture reading at Morning Prayer today:

“Turn to me and be safe
all you ends of the earth,
for I am God; there is no other!
By myself I swear,
uttering my just decree
and my unalterable word:
To me every knee shall bend;
by me every tongue shall swear.

Isaiah 45:22-23

From the Rotary Lights Christmas display this year in LaCrosse, Wisconsin:

Colder and colder

Winter is coming. Still a nice crisp day for a long walk.

From Morning Prayer today, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception:

But now the Lord speaks, who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine.’

Isaiah 43:1

Kid tracks!

Cold and beautiful

Out on the scooter for a last ride before winter. There are a bunch of Swans out there in the distance, and they were LOUD! I was more interested in a wide angle landscape shot though.

A fellow camera nerd shooting the swans.

Silence

“Be still, and know that I am God. I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth!”

– Psalm 46:10

For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him.

– Psalm 62:5

Our world is so filled with distraction: constant “breaking news”, entertainment, busy-ness.
What we need is silence, solitude, prayer.

I found this woman in a local park, embracing real life.
